Bonney was a new seat created in the 2017 redistribution by the State Electoral Commission and covers the suburbs of Arundel, Parkwood, Labrador and Biggera Waters. The population of this area as of 2016 was 52,600, but if you have visited the area, you would know that it is expanding. With two major Commonwealth Games sites and the growing Health and Knowledge Precinct in Parkwood Bonney is a thriving electorate. Its growth has been above the Queensland average for that past 5 years, and is projected to continue. But it’s not the statistics that make this a great electorate. It’s the places, people and community.

Bonney covers some of the most beautiful parts of the Broadwater, balancing the stunning views of the iconic Gold Coast skyline with the peace and tranquillity of the still water and slower pace that we like to set here. We also have the infrastructure of the light rail, the convenience of the major Gold Coast hospital and an outstanding university campus that is edging the 20,000 student mark, and 7 schools within our bounds.

Our people are diverse. We have 33% of our population born overseas, with 18% speaking a language other than English at home. 17% of our population are 65 years and older, and our average age is 38.6 years. Who you’ll find on the street are people that are laid back, friendly and that represent the wide spectrum of people that make up this country.

Our community groups are the core of our community. They encourage people to serve in the community, help them to connect to one another, and reach our most vulnerable. I highly recommend becoming involved with one in whatever form you can. We will soon have a list on our website and details of how you can contact them. If we can help you connect, please call our office on (07)5657 7980.
