Increased support for our Broadwater Waterways Authority

To protect and enhance our Broadwater we need a stronger Gold Coast Waterways Authority. They’re doing the best they can with the few resources they have available, but we want to support them to be able to do more. We want to fix the Waterways Authority so it can tackle the reckless and environmentally damaging behaviour we see too often on the Broadwater. It’s currently managed by a confusing and overlapping collection of bodies and people get away with having dodgy, unseaworthy vessels in our area. Their effluent even gets dumped in the channels just off the beaches where we swim.

Revegetation and rehabilitation of the Arundel / Coombabah Wetlands

The Arundel / Coombabah Wetlands have been damaged by development in the area, and it’s time we fix it. The newer part around Arundel Springs is seriously impressive so these enhancements are needed in the section off Tee Trees Boulevard and Tiger Drive. The Council are doing their best to look after the wetlands already, but I’m hopeful that with some extra funding they can revegetate the area, manage weeds and mozzies and re-do the pathways.
